Our In Depth Guide to Off Grid Solar
Need power where utility lines don’t go? Off-grid power systems let you live independently from utility power, providing electricity to run lights, water pumps, computers and more. That means you can enjoy all the comfort and security electricity provides, even when you’re far away from the grid.
Living Off the Grid Means You Are Your Own Power Company
When you’re not connected to the grid, you are your own power company. This means that you must not only generate all the power you need yourself, but you also need to store energy in solar batteries for when your solar panels aren’t producing enough power to run your loads – like at night or during periods of inclement weather. Otherwise, you’ll need to be running a supplemental generator, sometimes a lot.
In addition to generating and storing power, as your own utility company you are also responsible for doing maintenance, system upgrades and emergency repairs.
